Inhuman | Kat Falls | Fetch #1 | Sept 24 2013 |
In a world ravaged by mutation, a teenage girl must travel into the forbidden Savage Zone to recover lost artifacts or her father’s life is forfeit.
America has been ravaged by a war that has left the eastern half of the country riddled with mutation. Many of the people there exhibit varying degrees of animal traits. Even the plantlife has gone feral.
Crossing from west to east is supposed to be forbidden, but sometimes it’s necessary. Some enter the Savage Zone to provide humanitarian relief. Sixteen-year-old Lane’s father goes there to retrieve lost artifacts—he is a Fetch. It’s a dangerous life, but rewarding—until he’s caught.
Desperate to save her father, Lane agrees to complete his latest job. That means leaving behind her life of comfort and risking life and limb—and her very DNA—in the Savage Zone. But she’s not alone. In order to complete her objective, Lane strikes a deal with handsome, roguish Rafe. In exchange for his help as a guide, Lane is supposed to sneak him back west. But though Rafe doesn’t exhibit any signs of “manimal” mutation, he’s hardly civilized . . . and he may not be trustworthy.
*my thoughts* **Spoilers**
5 star rating.
I actually loved this book more than i thought i would!
It was unpredictable. Fast-moving - without missing any vital parts. I could connect with the characters. The action was awesome. The creativity in animal appearances was hella cool. So overall i freakin loved it!
"To protect the population, you have to stop seeing the people.."
So the heroine - Lane - is given a choice, find her father & get him to do a "fetch" or else he dies. Should be easy, right?
Whoops! I forgot to mention in-order to find her father Lane has to venture over the wall into the "Savage Zone".. which also inhabits mutated people with animal traits.
Back it up.. History 101.
America is split in two - West & East.
East being the mutated part.
West being the..un-mutated part lol
Hence there being a wall dividing the two.
Also hence it being unnecessary and might i add forbidden to cross the wall.
But i mean, why would any humna being wanna go to a disaster zone & leave the luxuries of the west?
Oh. right. To fetch shit for money. *smh*
So can you see where Lane might feel confused, angry, hurt and all the inbetween when she finds out her dad has been going over the wall.. regularly.
Back to the story.
So Lane is determined to find her dad ASAP and get his death sentence gone.
Along the way she runs into - literally - TWO, if i do say so myself, gorgeous guys!
Each of which are completely different to each other.
Rafe & Everson Cruz.
Love em' both equally.
... okay this is where the events get fuzzy for me LOL
Took too much time in writing this, so bear with me.
Quick run-down on "The journey to save Dad"
Lane finally makes it onto Savage Zone soil after ditching Everson.
Runs into Rafe, then trapped with Rafe, then saved by Rafe.
Rafe & Lane travel together to a compound where her father is known to be at

Everson turns up to "save" Lane & return her home
Of course Lane refuses
Tries to hijack his vehicle to complete her dads fetch herself
Ends up with Rafe & Everson - each with their own agendas - along for the ride to Chicago - where the object of importance is
*Chicago is a no-go area, very dangerous*

Love in Between | Sandi Lynn | Love Series #1 | September 5 2013 |
My name is Lily Gilmore, and I was supposed to be getting married today. That was until I found my fiancé having sex with my sister in the church moments before I was supposed to walk down the aisle. I grew up with a father who was a womanizer and cheated on my mother every moment he had the chance. He would even stoop as low as to take me and my sister with him on his trysts when we were younger. Cheating was all I grew up with, and I vowed never to live the life my mother did. After finding my fiancé and my sister together, I moved from Seattle to Santa Monica to start a new life of independence and to focus on my passion for photography, man-free.
My name is Luke Matthews. About a year ago, I lost the love of my life, my fiancé, in a tragic car accident. There are no words that can describe how I’ve felt the past year. My life and all my dreams had died with her in the accident. I exist, and I play my guitar to try and ease the pain. My love was taken away, and I will never get that back.
What happens when the lives of two people who no longer believe in love are suddenly changed by fate?
*Mature subject matter and not intended for those under the age of 17.*
The Wager | Rachel Van Dyken | The Bet #2 | Oct 1 2013 |
Lose a bet, lose your heart...
What is it about a junior-high crush that can send an otherwise intelligent woman into a tailspin? TV reporter Char Lynn wishes she knew. Jake Titus is too rich, too handsome, too arrogant: a trifecta that once lured Char into the best night-and worst morning-after-of her life. Now they've been thrown together in a wedding party. It's awkward, but survivable . . . until Jake stops acting like a jerk, and starts acting like the man she'd always hoped he could be.
If watching your brother marry your best friend is weird, being attracted to your best friend's other best friend is downright bizarre. Unfortunately for Jake, Char hasn't forgotten how he once tossed her aside. Worse still, Jake's already-nutty grandma is even crazier about Char. Cue meet-cute shenanigans and all manner of meddling, and somehow, Jake's falling. For Char. Now all he has to do is make her believe it . .
Unattainable | Madeline Sheehan | Undeniable #3 | Sept 21 2013 |
Warning: This is not a virtuous and tender love story. It’s chaotic, ruthless, and tragic. This story takes love and kills its innocence, steals away the pure moments, and crushes the hearts of the broken. A story born in childhood, tying one girl to one boy, leads to a destructive path—that hurts more than it doesn’t, that shatters more than it heals—testing the love that binds the two through a lifetime.
Tegen Matthews is the daughter of Dorothy Kelley, a club whore in the Hell’s Horsemen. A plain little girl, Tegen falls into the gritty world of the motorcycle club. When she meets a sweet, caring boy, she embraces the warmth and affection he shows her. Cage West is the son of the president of the Hell’s Horsemen. Tall and blond with deep brown eyes, as he grows up Cage realizes the power of his dimpled smile and smooth drawl. With one chance encounter, Tegen becomes forever tied to Cage. Following is a wayward journey that is filled with regrets, mistakes, and heartache, pulling at the threads that hold them together. Cage and Tegen fight hard but love harder, and in the end, what matters is where the journey takes one girl and one boy, who have been twined with one another since the beginning.
This is Tegen and Cage’s story.
Love doesn’t erase a broken heart, and it sure doesn’t change people. But no matter how old, how flimsy, how frayed the rope of love is, it keeps you tethered to the people you love.
*Not really a review. More like my thoughts*
"Take a look around you, Cage.
From Chaos, the strongest sort of love is usually born."
I survived it - whoop - with my sanity intact too xD
Although i was having a hard-time, thinking this was Ellie & Dirtys' story instead of Cage & Tegens lol
I didn't enjoy this one as much as i thought i would.
Tegen was just.. annoying.. when she got in a mood, which was basically 99% of the time, i swear it's like she enjoyed picking a fight with whomever was in clawing distance!
She seriously needed an attitude adjustment.
You needed to buck your ideas up man.
I felt like shaking you into next week lol
Then there was Deuce.
You meddling old-man.
Half the problems were caused by you!
But in the end ya did give deuce-awesome advice:
"Don't let that one catch you stickin' your shit where it don't belong. She's damn crazy and she'll fuckin' shoot your ass."
What i did love was Dirty & Ellie.
Will they be getting a story about them? I truly hope so.
It was sort of left hanging - about their relationship.
Man, dirty or should i say Michael is fucked-up.. He's a mean motherfucker. But i guess, with the way his past is.. i would be too!
All in All i gave this a 3 star rating.

Unspoken | Jen Fredrick | Woodlands #2 | Sept 13 2013 |
Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.
I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?
He's everything I shouldn't want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren't the danger to me, though, it's his charm. He's sliding his way into my heart and I'm afraid that he's going to be the one to break me.
Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.
I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.
She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't.
"True love means that you'd be willing to sacrifice all for another person"
